the secret to self confidence

Confidence doesn’t just magically appear one day—it’s something we create by stepping into situations, taking risks, and yes, occasionally falling flat on our faces.
As Ellen DeGeneres hilariously put it, "My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don’t know where the heck she is!" The point is that confidence comes from moving forward, from trying, failing, and discovering that you're still standing, no matter the outcome.
A good mate of mine swears by the lyrics of Fleetwood Mac’s hit song “Don’t Stop.” The line “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow, yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone” is like his personal mantra. And he’s onto something! Confidence doesn’t live in the past or in the mistakes we’ve made—it’s about looking ahead, knowing that each new experience is a chance to grow and experience more of life’s beauty. Tomorrow is a fresh start, and confidence grows when we take that first step forward, no matter what happened yesterday.
Life is full of opportunities to practice confidence, whether it’s striking up a conversation with a stranger, trying a new hobby, or volunteering for a project at work. Every time we put ourselves out there, we get a little more comfortable with the discomfort—and that’s where the magic happens. The more we engage with life, the more we realise just how capable we really are. Confidence is like a muscle—the more we use it, the stronger it gets.
Of course, things can knock us down. Criticism, self-doubt, the fear of failing and being rejected can shake our confidence. But here’s the thing: confidence doesn’t come from never failing; it comes from knowing that we can get back up, dust ourselves off, and keep going.
So don’t stop. Keep thinking about tomorrow, because the more we show up, the more confidence we’ll find along the way.
Life’s good.
Clint.
